The Baggage Claim Project

Picture
Baggage Claim is the name of my current "in the works" book.

It is a memoir of my struggle with depression and how I finally found a path to peace.

But it is much more than that!

1 in 5 people struggle with some for of mental illness
2/3 of People with a mental illness never seek help.

In most states, the odds are at least 2 to 1 that someone with a serious mental illness will be in a prison rather than a hospital.

Imagine the cost to families, communities, businesses, churches, etc.  Imagine what would change if people sought and recieved the help they needed!

I spent the first half of my career in church ministry.  I've been a youth pastor, a pastor, and a missionary.  As the Lord wills, i will spend the next half raising awareness of this growing problem and encouraging people.

My goal is to be as vocal as possible about my own struggle so that those who currently struggle in silence can know that they do not have to suffer!

Here is my plan:

1.  Write a book.  I am currently writing Baggage Claim.  It is a memoir of my struggle with depression and anxiety and my road to recovery.  My aim is to make it very accessible as to offer some guidance for those that may share that struggle.

2.  Get some training.  I am comfortable as a preacher/speaker, but I want to improve.  John Maxwell offers some of the best training for launching a speaking ministry or career.  Further, once certified, I will also be able to teach his highly sought leadership programs to organziations and businesses...a great "foot in the door" so to speak for my message.

3.  Publish the book and launch the speaking ministry.  I am certainly available for speaking about this now, but by April 2017, I intend to have the book complete and will launch this new speaking career.

But I need your help!
